What is a file server?
For those who are thinking  "Since the client's disk size is bigger, maybe I should just save it on my own computer." or "Sharing in Windows is enough...". Why we need a file sever?

This is for "YOU" to read on....
--> Reason to introduce file server     --> File server is everyone's document shelf.
Reason to introduce file server
Hard disks break easily.
Have you ever encountered disk trouble? If not, you are the lucky few.
The disk that is used to save important data, breaks very often.
The programs may be restorable but once the data is gone, that's the end.
Files break easily too.
Files get corrupted often.
And get mistakenly deleted off too.
A file server is a safe for files.
If you keep it in a file server, it's safe.
It's sturdy like a safe and it will protect your files from all sorts of problems.

That's why:

• To protect it from disk crashes, RAID structuring like disk mirroring is done.
By always writing on 2 disks, it protects files just in case one of them crashes.

  * "Radish" supports software "RAID and IDE-RAID/SCSI-RAID systems.
• Creates backups to cope with any file troubles.
Constant backing up is done to cope with "Sudden power off during file writing", "Client freezing", "Mistakenly deleting files, or overwriting" etc.
Ideally, having multiple generation backups, backup to a different computer or even to a different location is the best.

  * For "Radish" automatic backup can be done in the internal disk and on a computer on the network.

• Using a UPS to prepare for sudden power failures.
Computers are very weak towards sudden power failures.
Files and entire file systems inside the disk are affected and files may not be retrieved.
By connecting a UPS to the server, you can prevent such kind of problems from occurring.

  * "Radish" supports most of the UPS products, so that proper shutdown can be done during a power failure.

File server is everyone's document shelf.
Another important aspect of a file server is the sharing of files within a company, department etc.
Like keeping documents in a shelf in the office, you can keep files in the file server so that it documents, data can be shared within that group.

• Many ways of accessing it using different kinds of computers.
Shared documents need to be accessible when needed from different kinds of computers, from different offices, from home etc.

  * "Radish" can be accessed from Windows/Macintosh/FTP clients. If you use FTP you can easily access it via internet too.

• Maintaining security
Easy access has no meaning if security is compromised. Security must be maintained by accessible authorization settings, accessible network range.

  * For "Radish", user/group authorization configurations, access restriction from a remote network can be standardized for Windows/Macintosh/FTP clients.
• Speedy recovering from troubles
When utilizing a file server, a stoppage is critical. Even if it manages to safeguard files and data, without a speedy restoration process, it defeats the purpose of having a safe.

  * "Radish" does synchronization (backup) process with it's backup server. So, it can easily switch over to it. Also, because the system is on a CD-ROM, startup is easily done even through other hardware.

We would appreciate it if you would purchase our "Radish" products. If not, take a few minutes to consider what we have explained here and think about getting a file server (it doesn't have to be ours....) once a few computers are connected.
